We believe that yoga enlivens the best in each of us, nourishes the roots of our wellbeing,
and empowers us to care for the lives around us.
We’re on a mission to uplift people’s lives - through inspired classes and warm human connection -
and help brighten & heal our world from the inside out.
We’re passionate about taking good care of you. Here’s what you can expect…
A Warm & Inviting Space... where everybody is welcome.
We are dedicated to making everyone who comes through Flow’s doors feel like a welcomed friend. We're committed to fostering an inclusive community that celebrates each person and their unique expressions. An authentic smile, a cup of tea, a clean, cozy space to practice, lounge, and mingle ... These are just some of the ways we love to take good care of you.
Yoga teaches us that without community we don't go far. We're in this together! We nurture community through satsang, the ancient yogic tradition of coming together for meaningful connection to support the awakening of what is extraordinary in each of us. Whether it is gathering for tea in our lounge, a smile to the yogi on the mat next to you or practicing together during our annual Yoga on the Mall we are committed to fostering authentic community connections and elevating our collective consciousness.
Skillful & compassionate, Flow's teachers are widely recognized as the best in DC. We are honored that such an inspirational and dedicated tribe of teachers calls Flow their home. Their expertise, experience, and passion shine through in the classroom. It’s a difference in Flow's classes you can feel.
A Rich Class Schedule
With nearly 100 classes each week, you’ll always find one to fit your mood, your practice, and your schedule. Our classes are rooted in respected traditions that nurture holistic physical, mental, and spiritual growth. Offerings range from classes designed for absolute beginners to deeply experienced practitioners -- classes that’ll make you move and sweat or slow down and relax, that’ll tap your inner dancer or that'll simply bring you home to your own body to release stress, detoxify, and heal.
Alternative Therapies for Healing & Inspiration
Modern medicine has started to embrace what yogis have known for a long time: that, in the hands of a gifted therapist, yoga has a profound power to heal. Flow’s Wellness program is led by a group of talented practitioners dedicated to affirming and supporting your innate power to heal. Reiki, Thai Yoga Massage, Crystal Healing Sound Baths,
World-Class Special Events & Workshops
Flow hosts a stellar line-up of world class yogis, change agents, artists, musicians and global visionaries each month to engage, motivate and inspired our community. Conscious raising, thought provoking and action oriented opportunities to compliment our practice helps elevate our own lives and helps us take good care of the world around us.
Fundraisers, Charitable Giving & Karma Yoga
We gather regularly to take our yoga off the mat and each year we raise thousands of dollars and donate countless hours for local and global causes that are close to our hearts including our dear friends at N Street Village and One Common Unity. We also recognize the power of uniting people in community and are proud to be founding organizers of DC’s annual Global Mala, DC Yoga Week and Yoga on the Mall.

Yoga teaches us that without community we don't go far. We're in this together!
Since our humble beginnings (a single studio room on the 3rd floor of our P Street locale), our dream for Flow has always been two-fold... one, to create a warm, welcoming space for DC's movers, shakers and changemakers filled with spirit and possibility to gather in community & experience the depths of of a modern day yoga practice, and two, to create an authentic home for the areas most beloved and experienced teachers.
In this way we can serve world-class yoga with a rich schedule that ranges from more soulful & nourishing classes to powerful strength & sweat based offerings, mindful lifestyle workshops & transformative social justice programming to bring out the best in each of us.
Today, Flow is a DC treasure and thousands (local & out of town guests) join us each week for our class experiences. Our offerings continue to deepen as a vibrant reflection of the growth and interests of our collective.

Ian’s professional life is focused on inspiring people to nurture life on earth – starting especially with their own wellbeing. He currently serves as the Director of “Flow” for Flow Yoga Center, which he co-owns with his wife Debra. There, he ensures operations run smoothly for the bustling Flow community, which currently numbers over 2,000 visitors per week. Prior to that, Ian worked for 12 years directing online communications departments and organizing activist supporters for the Campaign for America’s Future and the National Wildlife Federation. Ian received an MES from Yale’s School of Environment and a BA from Princeton University, and in both places focused on how to empower progressive social‑movement networks – esp. through online technology. Outside of yoga and activism, Ian spends as much time as possibly playing (mostly in the great outdoors) with friends and family.
